Continuing our discussion on audience engagement, today I will talk about two tips I find useful when keeping my audience members alert and receptive.
When presenting, tell your audience members a story. Storytelling allows you to get your point across in less time, with better understanding and longer retention. Stories give people an emotional frame of reference on which to relate personally.
Another tip is to use startling numbers or statistics. This kind of data can hook your audience quicker than anything else. By using it wisely you can not only prove your point, but also surprise your audience. Present only the numbers and statistics that are necessary to make your point.
By using these methods you will improve your effectiveness and audience engagement.
