Yesterday we talked about how to talk with an executive coach if your expectations are not being met.
Today, let's discuss how to prevent this uncomfortable situation.
Plan ahead!
Meet with your coach prior to entering a coaching relationship. See how you feel about working with this person. Ask questions. Address the "what ifs" during this initial discussion.
What if I want to end the coaching relationship? What if my goals aren't being achieved? Insist on a termination clause in the contract if one isn't already there. By agreeing on the expectations and negotiating the "what ifs" ahead of time, contract termination is much simpler.
