"How can I be more receptive to the upcoming changes in my organization?" Ann asks.
The number one reason many changes fail is because individuals don't understand what it involves nor what it requires.
Change is scary. It is easy to make excuses. People often rationalize that the risk of failure is too high and resort back to what is comfortable and familiar.
Start with feasible steps towards a larger goal. Tackling the whole thing at once will be too overwhelming. The small, doable steps are called "small wins" and they are imperative for fueling the positive momentum toward the final goal.
Once you have several small wins, momentum picks up and change is no longer as scary as it once was.
